What’s involved?

Our fully trained and employed craftsman (we never use sub-contractors) carry out all works.

STAGE 1: A full assessment of your roof and the work required, including internal inspection of timbers is carried out. It is from this assessment that the decision to repair or replace is made. Often replacement is the most cost-effective action, especially when timbers and tiles have seriously deteriorated.

STAGE 2: If the roof requires replacement, the old tiles, battens, under felt/membrane and sarking boards (where applicable) are removed completely and all rafters timbers are checked for signs of damage or weakness.

STAGE 3: 15mm thick OSB Sterling boards are then laid and fixed over the entire roof area. OSB boards are used as they are stronger than most softwood plywood, thanks to the tens of thousands of real wood strands that go into every board. OSB has no knots, voids or delimitation problems and sets the standard for load bearing applications in house building and commercial construction. It is BBA Approved and conforms to Eurocodes.

STAGE 4: A new superior waterproof breathable membrane is then fitted. This is a three layer laminate designed to combine water hold out properties with high breathability. The central layer is a fine-fibred meltblown material which differs from other breather membranes on the market. This unique central layer provides a fibrous structure which allows for a much higher breathability than other laminates which may include films. These small fibres give increased water hold out over spunbond single layer products and afford a number of advantages such as ; * 0.6mm thickness, Tensile 6.37/4.6Kn, Tear 156/131N, Vapour Resistance - 0.09MNs/g, Vapour Permeability 2409g/m2/day, Waterproof (BS4016 Pass) and Fire Rated to Din4102 Class B2.

STAGE 5: New high graded timber battens are fitted into place ready for the new roof tiles.

STAGE 6: Finally your new selected roof and ridge tiles (available in various colours and textures) are fitted securely into place. (NB. On gable edges, there is an option of either a cloaked tile edge finish or a dry verge finish. Please ask our surveyor for details on these products)

STAGE 7: On completion of your new roof, it is inspected for quality of installation before your 10 year written guarantee certificate is issued to you. This guarantee is fully transferable to new owners, should you decide to sell your property in the future.

Re-roofing can be a very cost-effective method of improving your home and is often far less expensive than customers think, provided it is done right. Before making any decisions regarding your roof get a FREE, no obligation re-roofing quotation from us.
