The Green Deal is a government incentive allowing people to pay for energy-efficiency improvements to their property through savings made on their energy bills. With energy bills continuing to rise, such improvements are becoming essential. The Green Deal applies to domestic and non-domestic properties and was launched in October 2012 and plans to be fully operational in 2013.
There are no upfront costs for energy efficient home improvements
Up to £10,000 can be spent on energy efficiency measures in a property
26 measures – including efficient boilers, insulation, solar panels and windows and doors
The Green Deal is on the house and not the homeowner
A tenant can demand a Green Deal from a landlord to improve energy efficiency
